A Message from Mr. Sonny Monzavi, Chair

On behalf of the St. Joseph's Hamilton Joint Boards of Governors (JBG) I wish to welcome you to the St Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton website. Our organization is guided by the legacy of the Sisters of St. Joseph who have provided us with the framework to continue their work. Their passion for healing, their dedication to all those we serve and their compassion for the poor and marginalized provide the inspiration for our efforts. Our people are our strength and a safe and healthy workplace is a key priority to ensure they can deliver the mission handed to us by our founders.

St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton has been caring for the region of Hamilton with milestones, miracles and discoveries for more than 125 years! From the first kidney transplant performed by Dr. Knight and Dr. Tsai in 1970, to the recent opening of the Margaret and Charles Juravinski Centre for Integrated Healthcare where we reinvented the provision of mental health and addictions care - St. Joseph’s continues to stand by our promise to provide the highest standard of care to our community.

We are dedicated to providing our community with high quality, accessible and safe healthcare and work continuously to improve the results and outcomes for our patients and families. By focusing on the patient’s journey through our health system, from hospital to home or to long-term care, we consistently strive to eliminate barriers and gaps that occur in today’s health care environment.

We are also passionate about our academic mission to educate healthcare professionals, bring best evidence into practice and support our researchers in the important work of creating new treatments, innovative care delivery and cures for tomorrow.

Working together with our staff of dedicated professionals, the JBG is focused on improving the experiences and outcomes of the people we serve at our locations. While many exciting projects are in process in our organization, we are most gratified when we can offer our patients and their families seamless, effective, safe and compassionate care.

Over the 2017-18 year, St. Joe’s will embark on a large initiative to join our mission of providing compassionate care with leading healthcare technology through our ‘Dovetale’ project. We are truly transforming the way we work and provide care through a digital healthcare movement. Healthcare providers at St. Joe’s will soon be better able to connect to each other and collaborate on patient care through one digital information solution that holds all of the patient’s story. We will be improving patient care by providing real-time, at-the-bedside data and analysis and patients will have new options to engage in their care through better information sharing.

This is truly an exciting time in the history of our great organization and I look forward to working with all of our partners as we continue to improve the quality of care we provide.
