Under the direction of the Director of Community Programs and Services, each of our four daily programs are led by a Therapeutic Recreationist and Program Assistant. These teams plan and run creative programs and activities that meet the needs of each participant. Also, a Physio-Therapy Assistant/Occupational Therapy Assistant offers exercise programs, as well as mobility and strengthening treatments each day.

Together, these programs create an enjoyable day and aim to optimize each person’s physical, emotional, and intellectual well-being.

The Afternooners
This program serves 22 members each day. It is ideal for independent people who enjoy a variety of activities and programs, and are physically and cognitively well.
The Afternooners is offered Tuesday to Friday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Members enjoy the later starting time and a full evening meal.

The Happy Gang
This program serves 15 members each day. It meets the unique needs of people with mild to moderate cognitive impairments such as memory loss, disorientation, and early stage Alzheimer’s disease.

Our fun, active programs bring back memories, reveal skills from the past, and are intellectually challenging. The Happy Gang is offered Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and includes a hot, full course meal.

The Chickadees
This program serves 15 members each day who need one-to-one, hands-on help with their daily activities (ex. meal preparation, toileting). Many of our members have Multiple Sclerosis, or have had a stroke or brain injury. We have designed the program to meet the physical, social and cognitive care needs of all participants.

The Special Needs Program
This program is a specialized service for members with significant cognitive impairment, (often Alzheimer’s disease). Offered in a comfortable, non-threatening, home-like setting, it allows members to socialize and enjoy meaningful activities. The day is a well-planned, supervised routine filled with activities that meet the needs and abilities of each person. This program is enhanced with horticultural therapy in our own “Enchanted Garden”.
Dedicated staff offer supervision and guidance in a secured area. The small group (maximum 15 clients per day), allows staff to focus on the unique needs and abilities of each person. Most clients participate a few times each week, which allows for caregiver relief. One full course meal is included.

The Special Needs Program is offered Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
