St. Joseph's Villa Research Mandate
St. Joseph's Villa acknowledges the importance of incorporating evidence-based research findings into our healthcare service delivery. This is recognized in both the wording of the facility's vision statement (see below) and in the support given by senior management to research activities.
"Built on our tradition of excellence in care, research and education, St. Joseph's Villa is a destination of choice for Seniors, an employer of choice for staff and volunteers, and a partner of choice for community programs and services."
Benefits of Research
High quality research is the key to improving quality of life for clients by:
- Driving improvements and innovations in healthcare (e.g. new procedures and treatments)
- Providing valuable knowledge to health policy makers in terms of what services are needed and where
- Providing objective measurement to support allocation of resources to meet the needs of our clients
- Contributing to accountability of healthcare services to deliver evidence-based practice
Working in Partnership
Since 1996, St. Joseph’s Villa has been working in partnership with the St. Joseph’s Health System Research Network to enhance its services to residents and seniors from the community through research and education. Through collaborative efforts, an environment has been created at St. Joseph’s Villa that is progressive and promotes the provision of the highest level of care possible. This is accomplished through projects surrounding staff education and evaluation of services and care practices.
Described in the following links are projects conducted by the St. Joseph’s Health System Research Network that are relevant to the practice and care at St. Joseph’s Villa in addition to quality improvement initiatives that have taken place on-site. On-site projects have involved evaluation of services and procedures designed to improve quality and continuity of care.
