Every one of our Board members contributes something unique to St. Joseph's Villa. Below is a sampling of their individual commitments and contributions.

I have had the privilege of serving as a volunteer on the Villa's Board of Trustees since 1995. I say "privilege" because I have been so fortunate to have been able to experience the Villa in diverse ways. Whether it is working with the committed management team, being given cheerful directions to a meeting room by housekeeping staff , pulling up a chair to join the residents at their council meetings, being updated by the visionary Executive Director, watching the therapy staff work their magic with residents, being inspired by the tireless work of the Foundation, listening to a nurse or health care aide console a family member, enjoying treats served by the dietary staff, or overhearing countless folks on the ground level bringing laughter into the lives of those with whom they work, I get the same feeling. It's a consistent feeling. It's a feeling you can experience only in a place where the staff are caring, knowledgeable, committed to quality service for their residents, and ready to meet every challeng

For over 130 years The Sisters of St. Joseph of Hamilton and the staff of St. Joseph's Villa have provided a home for the elderly and disadvantaged in our community by consistently maintaining an enhanced quality of life and support for Villa residents and their families. The capacity to care distinguishes the Villa from other institutions. The extensive construction presently being completed will further enhance the quality of life for Villa residents and is testament to the ongoing commitment to address and respond to the future needs of the elderly in our community."

It is indeed an honour and a privilege to serve the residents of St. Joseph’s Villa in the capacities as a Trustee of the Board, a member of the Finance Committee and especially as a volunteer on a one to one basis with many of the residents. St. Joseph’s Villa is a unique organization as a Long Term Care Home. This special place has its uniqueness based on its mission of L.O.V.E. “Living Our Values Everyday” which permeates from the top of the organization down through the ranks to the residents. Its values are grounded in the spirituality of compassion and love introduced by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Hamilton in 1879. My time at The Villa is always special and exciting. Whether I am taking residents to Mass; enjoying a cup of coffee and sing along in the Tuck Shop; being outdoors for sun and relaxation; organizing BBQ’s and playing funny videos; attending Board, Finance, Residents’ Council, Greenspace and Family meetings; the small acts of kindness not only bring smiles and happiness to the residents but provide me with a great sense of love and joy. I also derive much satisfaction witnessing the dedication of staff who work tirelessly to provide compassionate, holistic care to our 378 residents. In this regard, it was with peace of mind that I entrusted the care of my Father and Mother-in-Law in their final days.
