It is indeed an honour and a privilege to serve the residents of St. Joseph’s Villa as a former member of the Villa Board of Trustees and former member of the Finance Committee.  I continue to be a volunteer on a one to one basis with many of the residents. St. Joseph’s Villa is a unique organization as a Long Term Care Home. This special place has its uniqueness based on its mission of L.O.V.E. “Living Our Values Everyday” which permeates from the top of the organization down through the ranks to the residents. Its values are grounded in the spirituality of compassion and love introduced by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Hamilton in 1879. My time at The Villa is always special and exciting. Whether I am taking residents to Mass; enjoying a cup of coffee and sing along in the Tuck Shop; being outdoors for sun and relaxation; organizing BBQ’s and playing funny videos;  attending Residents’ Council, Greenspace and Family meetings; the small acts of kindness not only bring smiles and happiness to the residents but provide me with a great sense of love and joy. I also derive much satisfaction witnessing the dedication of staff who work tirelessly to provide compassionate, holistic care to our 378 residents. In this regard, it was with peace of mind that I entrusted the care of my Father and Mother-in-Law in their final days.
